The morning after the storm. We ended up with about a cup of water in our tent.
The CCS 10 x 14 tarp came through the storm in great form, just drained a little water off that did not run off.
The pole connectors on my Eureka Timberline took the brunt force of the wind. They will have to be replaced.I got up at 6:30 and had my morning coffee and let Ethan sleep in. I made Cache Lake Biscuits 'n Gravy, and scrambled eggs for breakfast.
We spent the morning cleaning up after the storm and it was 11 am before we hit the water.
We had two portages, first being a 96 rod followed by a 70 rod off from Nina Moose River then into Nina Moose Lake.
Stopped at camp site #C1787. It was a very good site for landing the canoe. It also had a great place to swim. I collected fire wood and got everything ready for the evening camp fire. Ethan spent some time fishing and getting some sun.
Ethan is doing his seagull impersonation here.
I do have to say that this campsite was the worst place that we encountered mosquitoes. With the tarp, tent, and clothes treated with Permethrin we could stand it, but walk into the woods and it reminded me of a Deep Woods Off commercial. The Bug Bucket hats were a welcomed addition.
Had some little friends running around this campsite also. They included these little squirrels along with mice that Ethan spent a good half hour chasing until he finally got one.
I then too went for a swim and got cleaned up. We went out and did a little fishing after supper and caught a few northern.
Sunset was beautiful tonight.
Our last campfire of our trip :- (
